WHY WE
PUBLISH SHALLA Magazine |
1
Thanks for providing
an opportunity for an agent to see my work.
This is the best
birthday present I've ever had.

Shalla, got the good
news this morning. Very early. In the darkness and glow of the monitor
screen, birds chirping madly outside my window, I slouched reading
your message.
Two stories? Rubbed
eyes. Must be a dream. Back to bed. Rise again. Looked again. Even
the unskilled get lucky one part of me nudges. The other part shouts
out loud. Better than ginger beef.

Dear Shalla:
What an honor.
I assume many poets would read the email, consequently "file
it," and await publication. I had no choice but to respond
to you.
I've been writing poetry for years, over 30 years, and it wasn't
until recently that I finally decided I actually can write poetry.
(It would shock you how low this poet's self-esteem can be and
has been at times.)
At any rate, it's emails like yours which make me realize, yes,
it is good for me to continue writing, especially after the many
periods throughout my life where I had abandoned writing and
stopped completely - sometimes for years on end.
Your email to me yesterday is without a doubt, "the most
encouraging email" I have received in a long, long time.
And once more, I thank you.
Have a great rest of the week!

Thank you very much. What an honour!!! Thanks for the opportunity and
my heartfelt thanks for your wonderful contributions to the writing community
online and otherwise. Thank You!
Thanks to Misty Day for selecting my poem and for her constructive
criticism.

23?
I
ran across your magazine, web site, movie, advice, photos
and I have to say you MUST be always working on something...
Yes, Shalla certainly have it all together. And you are
23? Wow!
Hello,
so you found our myspace
page, huh? It's true, here at SHALLA Magazine we're
all forever 21... I mean 23 :)

Hip
Hop Flave
What
do you mean when you say "hip hop flavored work"?
Are you talking about "urban drama" type of stories?
SHALLA
Magazine likes to hear different voices. You know, a Steinbeck
sounds different from a Stephen King. Just read an excerpt
and you can pretty much figure out which one's which.
To
make it easy, just send your work in, if editors like it,
we publish :)

Hey Shoe, one

For Your
Consideration
Hi
Shalla,
I
am interested in submitting a short story for your consideration.
On another matter entirely, you are stunningly beautiful.
Thanks
so much, that's so nice of you, but flattery won't get
you published in SHALLA Magazine--oh wait, I think it just
did.

Live
it Down
I
quoted the line that ‘the best thing for the inside
of a man was the outside of a horse.” The reporter
ran the story quoting me as saying that the best thing
for the outside of a man was the inside of a horse.
It
took awhile to live that one down.
Oh,
this must be from Gordon Kirkland, right? Two-time winner
of the Stephen Leacock Award of Merit for Humor and author
of Never Stand Behind A Loaded Horse. After reading
our SHALLA CHATS, we can recognize you from anywhere.
|
Yep! Sometimes
your comments and emails may get quoted here. Next time,
maybe we'll ask you for permission :)
Emails
may be edited for space and clarity.
