For all submissions, please include this in your email. I understand that SHALLA Magazine asks for electronic, print, and non-exclusive subsequent publication rights. This means SHALLA Magazine may publish my work(s) in a future print issue of the magazine and its multi-media versions, such as an audio version of the magazine.

Submission-Musts for our POETRY
1. Give us a short bio, with your name first, in bold. Please make sure you have your bio on your email & your attachment, if our editors can't easily find it, it may not be printed with your work 2. On your work, please center the Title with your name underneath it.
Eg. My Best
(Please make sure your name or the title is not all capitalized) 3. At the bottom of your work (short story, poetry, etc) please put: Previously published by ___(name of publication)__.
As for the format of your poems, please send it as you would like it to appear.

Submission-Musts for our PRINT ISSUES For work longer than 1,000 words: 1. a 1-3 line summary of the story, something like: "It’s a coming of age story about a 12-year-old boy growing up in a small, segregated mining town in the south."
2. Rate it, if you consider it rated G (kids can read it), PG13, or rated R.
3. Tell us its genre: horror, mystery, romance, sci-fi... if it's literary, please say so.
4. Format. Submissions must be print-ready: (Depending on our printing schedule, we may reject a submission that does not follow this basic formatting.

SHALLA Magazine features high quality fiction (experimental, literary, genre, multicultural, etc), poetry, essays, excerpts from screenplays, one act-plays, etc. Although we mainly publish literary work, our submission system is open to all forms of writing that have been previously published.
Work is first scanned by one of our acquiring editors, if it passes that phase, it goes to our guest assistant editors, if it passes that phase, it goes to one of our guest editors, if it passes that it goes to one of our editors, then to Shalla DeGuzman.

Compensation You'll have readers! No direct monetary payment. You receive 20% OFF author-discount if you order the magazine directly from our printers. Find us in Duotrope you have a novel coming out? the business side of writing If you're working on a novel or you're already a published novelist, it's great to have a following of readers for your work. Oh, it's him! Or, oh, it's her--What a remarkable talent! I gotta read that book! Submit your work as an mp3 file. You can record your short story or poem or essay, etc as an audio file (mono, 128Kpbs) and send it to us with your submission. If your printed work is accepted for publication, SHALLA Magazine may podcast your reading of your work.
